Giorgi Gvasalia
Executive Director of the Institute for Information Technology Development
Giorgi Gvasalia has 10+ years of experience in information technology, cyber and information security, both in the public and private sectors.
Giorgi is currently the Information Security Manager National Center for Education Quality Enhancement, LEPL, he has held the same position in the Information System for Education Management (until 2016).
Giorgi is also the Founder and CEO of the Institute for Development of Informational Technologies (IDIT). Together with the IDIT team, Giorgi has implemented many necessary projects, as well as created an anti-bullying platform and is the founder of the “Anti-Bullying (Cyber Bullying) Day” in Georgia.
In 2014-2016 he worked as the Head of Risk Assessment and Management Division of the Information Systems Division of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia, where he became a NATO Certified ICT Expert; in 2016 he moved to the Information Technology Policy Department of of the Ministry of Defense on a position, Deputy Head of the Planning Division.
In 2014-2016, Giorgi was a visiting professional teacher in the field of “Web Programming” at the LEPL College “Academy of Information Technologies”.
In 2012-2014 he worked as a Senior Programmer in the Civil Service Bureau. Significantly, during this period he created the “Online System of Asset Declarations of Officials”, which is in the winning category of the 2013 UN Civil Service Competition: “Prevention and Defeat of Corruption”.
Giorgi graduated from the Faculty of Informatics and Management Systems of the Georgian Technical University in 2015. During his studies at the University, he won a silver and bronze medal at the International Informatics Olympics (Infomatrix) twice.
His areas of activity are: information security, cyber security, e-government, online space rights, online space adaptation and accessibility.
